GAUTENG, SOWETO, 29 JULY 2018 – After 12 years successfully bringing the vine to Soweto, promoting the best of South Africa’s wines and bubblies to Sowetans and visitors to Soweto, the Soweto Wine Festival has a new team on-board set to take it to new heights well into the future.

The remaining two shareholders are co-founder of the festival and owner/manager of Soweto’s first boutique wine merchant, Morara Wine EmporiumMnikelo Mangciphu, and taking the helm is majority shareholder, Mr Saki Zamxaka.

Said Zamxaka“My personal passion for wines helped peak my interest in the festival. I’ve been collecting South African wines for over 15 years and the idea of introducing these wines to an even broader audience is incredibly appealing. I’ve purchased the Soweto Wine Festival because I think there is immense potential to build the wine industry both here in South Africa and abroad. In the future, I envision the Soweto Wine Festival as a world-class festival that encapsulates not just South African wine but truly represents South Africa and can introduce the world more deeply to us. In addition to Soweto, we will take this festival overseas sharing our proudly South African wines with the world.”

The 13th annual Soweto Wine Festival is set to return to Walter Sisulu Square in Kliptown, Soweto, on the 1st and 2nd September 2018, to showcase the best of South Africa’s wines, cuisine, travel destinations and lifestyle brands, to the thousands of wine lovers that the festival attracts every year.

Walter Sisulu Square was chosen in celebration of #Mandela100, as Mandela would have turned 100 years old this year, and it is the iconic venue where Madiba signed the all-important Freedom Charter on the 26th June 1955.

So, get set to join Mzansi’s trendsetters, movers; shakers, wine, food and music lovers, the aspirational and inspirational, connoisseurs and newbies, and all those who just want to have a fun night out, meet people, and taste over 500 of South Africa’s fabulous wines at the 13th Soweto Wine Festival.
